Metropol Teasme

Metropol Teasme

A great in depth article written in the Metropol Magazine by Majka Kaiser. This article highlights a brief description of teas and the history of our business.
Since 2007, we have managed to establish our business as one of the top loose leaf tea retailers in the whole of New Zealand.
Besides that, we have also gained popularity and reputation by supplying wholesale teas to many different Cafe’s in Christchurch.
Since our opening in 2007, we have manage to have 3 outlets in Christchurch. But unfortunately one of the store in the City was destroyed by the 2011 Earthquake.
Occasionally, we host tea ceremonies which allows our guest to not only taste high quality teas but to discover and enjoy a new cultural experience.

Nancy’s iced creamy Ginseng Oolong tea

Nancy's iced creamy Ginseng Oolong tea

Nancy visited Teasme on Friday morning before our busy lunch hour rush. While we were talking she purchased a pack of Ginseng Oolong tea. While we have some spare time we opened the sealed bag, poured out some of the fresh rolled up oolong teas and made it into ice tea with creamer and sweetener on the spot. She was very pleased with the flavour. Nancy was from New York, grew up in California and lived in New Zealand for 37 years. She has seen much changes in Christchurch. From a quiet small town to the Christchurch we live in today. One of the changes she enjoy is specialty shops ‘like Teasme’. Her daughters and family members are also enjoying the teas from Teasme.

Tea of the day, Lapsang Souchoung Tea

Tea of the day, Lapsang Souchoung Tea

The winner of the tea ceremony tonight is Lapsang Souchoung Tea. The tea tasting session started at 7.30pm, and finished around 10.30pm. It’s longer than usual because we all lost track of time. It was such a fun evening. This tea’s long name came from it’s Chinese name called Zengshan Xiaozhong. A world famous black tea with a distinct smoky aroma from the Fujian Province in China. The thick black leaves are pan-fried, rolled, and then dried over smoking pine fires. Pairs well with food. We have also tried White Peony white tea, Sri Lankan Safari Delight, Tokyo Lime and Four seasons springs.
